A New Look for Vengeance Lost

My Writing, Science Fiction

A few years back, there was an unfortunate incident where the design files for the book covers for the Ardent Redux Saga (and some other stories I’ve written) were lost. While I still had my versions and could upload them to retailers as needed, I wasn’t able to change anything – the blurb on the back, the page count on paperbacks – nothing.

After much deliberation, I decided to get new covers. I spent the past year saving up to hire the designer who has done some other covers for me and am pleased to announce that the first one is complete. That’s right, Vengeance Lost will soon be graced with a new cover. (Read on to catch a peek).

But that’s not all!

I’ve been wanting to add some deleted scenes in a sort of director’s author’s cut version of the story. And, as I couldn’t change the page count on the old covers, I wasn’t able to. But now, that is back on the table! I’ve spent the past few months weaving the deleted scenes back into the stories and adding a little more here and there to fill out spots that needed a little more attention than they got in the first round.

Needless to say, I’m VERY excited to rerelease Ardent Redux with shiny new covers and a few extra pages.

But why has this project taken SO long?

Well – I thought, back in 2021 when I left my corporate job to write and freelance full time that I’d have all the time in the world. After all, I was giving up working 40 hours a week so mathematically, I should have more time, right?

It turns out that something funny happens when you suddenly are your own boss and aren’t tethered to a desk for 40 hours a week. All that time you thought you’d have somehow manages to get filled with other things. Doctor’s appointments, kid’s activities, pets, housework, jobs, family stuff… it really adds up. And, if I’m being honest, I’m not quite sure how I managed to live life as a full-time employee in the corporate world working 40 hours a week and still doing those things.

It boggles my mind – really.

So, heed my warning. If you think leaving your job will mean that you’ll have endless free time to live life as you please… well, it just doesn’t work out that way. Not that I’m upset about it. I’ve grown to treasure my freedom so much that you’d have to drag me kicking and screaming back to the corporate world – and even then I’d probably escape at the next opportunity. I adore spending time with my kids, my family, and not having to worry about getting written up for missing work for a wedding, a sick child, or a family trip.

But – we’re drawing closer to the finish line every day. As we turn the corner into 2025 – the relaunch is nearly here. And, without further ado, I present the new Vengeance Lost cover! This cover will officially be seen on books when I relaunch the series. But, for now, I couldn’t wait to show you all what’s coming. I had a blast picking out the ship and working with the designer – as well as working on the story itself. (Please forgive the watermark – one can’t be too careful about these things).

Vengeance Lost, Episode 1 in the Ardent Redux Saga, gets a facelift with a new cover for the upcoming relaunch.
